What is a CMS?

The reason you will not need a developer to change your business hours. What a CMS is, what you can do with it yourself, and where the line is.

A site without a CMS can be changed only by whoever built it. Every change, even two words, goes through them and is billed.

A CMS is what changes that. The letters stand for content management system: the part of the site you log into and write in, instead of opening the code.

What it looks like day to day

You log in with a username and password, open the page you want to change, type into a field much like a document, and save. The change is on the site.

The same goes for a new page, a news post, a product in the store or a photo in the gallery. You need no technical knowledge and no software on your computer; a browser is enough.

We build on WordPress, the most widely used CMS there is. You edit in WordPress’s own editor, and if we ever part ways, any WordPress developer can take the site over.

Where it stops

A CMS changes the content, not the way the site works. A new type of page, a new function or a change to the design is not a job for the CMS.

That is the point. The line is there so you cannot break the site by accident while you change your hours. What stays with you and what stays with us is on updating the site yourself.

Every package comes with full admin access and a guide written for your site, not a general manual: it shows where to click for the things you will actually change. The packages are on Pricing, and if you would rather not do it yourself, website maintenance includes up to two hours of content changes a month.
